property cost).

property tax and insurance). Sisters
Habitat for Humanity builds homes within the Sisters School District.

for Humanity homes are built by volunteers working under the supervision
of professional builders who donate their time.

building come from donations made by individuals, churches, corporations,
foundations and the proceeds from Sisters Habitat Thrift Store.

Sisters Habitat
for Humanity contributes 10% of net income toward Habitats' international
work. These funds help build Habitat homes in developing countries.

Habitat houses
are sold at no profit to partner families, financed with no-interest
mortgages that are issued for 20-30 years. House payments go into
a revolving fund for Habitat for Humanity that is used to build more
Habitat houses.

Habitat for Humanity's
criteria for selecting homeowners is based on these principles:
· the family's need for adequate shelter
· the ability to pay
· the willingness to partner
· the inability to qualify for conventional mortgage due to
income

Homeowner families
are required to invest 500 "sweat equity" labor hours prior
to occupying their home. Habitat for Humanity house costs are kept
low through donations from individuals, corporations, churches, foundations
and through the use of volunteer labor.
